Welcome to Letters Home (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Letters Home website and services (“Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. Changes are addressed in Section 11.

1. Description of the Service

Letters Home lets users create and organize collections from ongoing inbound emails, manual entries, uploaded files, and supported imports. Users can edit and export their content, generate book files, order printed books, and optionally publish selected content through available sharing features.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

Your collection may contain photos of minors, but you may not upload or transmit illegal or exploitative content. Doing so will result in immediate termination and reporting to law enforcement.

3. Your Account

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate account, purchase, and delivery information
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your password
  • Be responsible for actions taken through your account
  • Ensure content you submit, import, publish, or print complies with these Terms

The account owner controls the collection and its settings. If other people contribute content, you are responsible for having their permission and any rights needed to use that content through the Service.

4. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Service to:

  • Upload, email, import, publish, print, or store illegal content
  • Upload child sexual abuse material (immediate termination and reporting)
  • Harass, exploit, defraud, or harm others
  • Use content you do not have permission or legal rights to use
  • Store high-risk regulated data unrelated to the Service, such as medical records, bank account numbers, or authentication credentials
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Attempt unauthorized access or reverse-engineer the platform

We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Content Ownership and Permission to Operate the Service

You retain your rights in letters, photos, and other content you submit.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, copy, process, format, display, and transmit your content only as needed to provide the features you choose. This includes permission to:

  • Import and organize content into your collection
  • Generate previews, exports, and book files
  • Display content through sharing features you enable
  • Send necessary book files and order information to a printing or fulfillment partner when you place an order

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to grant this license. The license ends when your content is deleted, except for limited backup copies, transaction records, legal requirements, and content already shared outside our control as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Payments and Printed Books

When you purchase a collection or printed book:

  • Prices, taxes, shipping fees, and other charges will be shown before checkout
  • Payments are processed by Stripe
  • Printed books are manufactured through Lulu and delivered by fulfillment providers and carriers
  • Production and delivery estimates are not guarantees
  • An order may not be cancellable after production begins
  • Any refund or cancellation terms shown at checkout, along with rights required by applicable law, will apply

You are responsible for reviewing your book preview, content, format, and shipping information before ordering.

7. Privacy

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, including its disclosures about imports, optional public sharing, payments, printing and fulfillment, temporary files, account deletion, and optional analytics.

8. Reliability and Data Loss Disclaimer

While we work to provide a stable and secure Service, we cannot guarantee:

  • Continuous or error-free availability
  • Perfect receipt, import, conversion, scanning, formatting, or preservation of content
  • Exact color, layout, or other reproduction in a printed book
  • Timely production or delivery of printed materials

The Service is provided “as is” to the fullest extent permitted by law. You should review generated materials and keep your own backups of important content.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, printing defects or delays, delivery issues, or indirect or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim

If your jurisdiction does not allow certain limitations, the narrowest permissible interpretation applies.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, upload illegal or harmful content, misuse the Service, or endanger platform stability or safety.

Account and collection content will be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy. Limited transaction, fulfillment, backup, security, and legally required records may remain after account closure.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service or legal requirements change. We will post the updated version and revise the date above. We will provide additional notice when required by law.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
